Greenville Log Home Plans – 2210sqft

The Greenville was designed to be a low maintenance, energy efficient timber frame house with a low impact on the environment and its surroundings. This home is the definition of ‘Green’ design and eco-friendly construction. It’s intended to be completely self-sufficient and off grid.

Some of the major green features include a photovoltaic system, on-demand hot water, a ground source heat pump, a dark, low VOC stain for long-term protection of the wood and clerestory windows with automatic sensors to assist in natural ventilation and increased day lighting.

The shallow rooflines help keep it low to the ground and provide a stable slope for the living roof. In addition to their aesthetic benefits, living roofs significantly reduce the heating and cooling costs of a building, reduce the urban heat island effect, increase the life span of a building envelope, reduce storm-water run-off, filter pollutants and carbon from the air, and allow for the increased biodiversity of plants, animals and insects in the area.

The Greenville offers single level living and a large open plan concept. The open plan is accentuated by the dynamic, central oval formation and unique hip roof system with log rafters over the living room. The living room also offers an abundant number of french doors, perfect for expanding the space and outdoor living.

For a medium-sized home, this has it all. A detached double garage and shop, three large bedrooms (a third room can also act as a den or office), a spacious kitchen containing a huge island with eating bar and a great view of the prominent stone fireplace in the living room, which also contains a forno oven. There is also a laundry/mudroom room, perfect for an active lifestyle.

This home is ideal for the individual who desires simplicity, minimal maintenance and a closeness with nature.
